Ghost Town

an essay composed with pictures of Thomas Dworzak, a young German photographer who reported several wars: Afghanistan, Iraq and Checnya. one of his most known work is the M*A*S*H Iraq(below).
in this essay he's talking about his experience in New Orleans just after Katarina reunied the city..
if you want to check out a 85min lecture of him, let me know!

M*A*S*H Iraq

a photo-collage produced by Tia Dunn with pictures of Thomas Dworzak, who was a photographer during the war in Iraq. the proposal was to represent an image, as realistic as possible about what was going on within a medic-squad in the heat of the battle..

for me it's very interesting to see his use of music and rhythm to represent the agression, violence, despair he experienced beeing there.. the sensations he absorbed during several weeks, in a clip of a few minutes.. like a hit in the face!

EYES DOWN: A Dubstep Thing

about dubstep, a genre born out of an urban need of slowing things down. a reaction on the hyperbreaks of jungle, drum'n bass and breakcore. this idea of slowing down is very related to reggae music, to the bass expanding in space,...

this documentary is talking about it's inside world. about the individual experience within a group of raving people. about how the light is affecting our way of dancing, it can make us invisible to the others.
about the physical effect of sub-sounds that can not be experienced in a headphone or with regular speakers.
real people, trying to explain their experience which is something bigger than themself.
"where does it come from?"

Notes on Breakcore.

a small but interesting docu about "breakcore".
a genre of music that is mixing all kinds of music on hyperkinetic breakbeats, as a reaction on other kinds of club and rave music like techno and drum'n bass. for me, extreme music carrying the idea of "contemporary art"..

the genre itself  is changing very fast and is now comming on a point of change. the fact that its changing so fast gives us the possibilitie for a clear overview and a good example of seeing its evolution in time.
also interesting to see how each artist has its complete own style while still having so much in common.

ps: im having an .avi file if you would like to see it in a better quality or to keep it as a document..
